LPS
Like SPS corals, LPS ( large polyp stony ) corals grow on a calcerous skeleton. But these corals are distinguished by their
large, fleshy polyps. They tend to do better in less than perfect water conditions than their SPS counterparts. Although
many LPS corals have strong lighting requirements, some will do well under medium to low lighting. Most will also do well
in medium to low water flow.
When placing LPS corals in your aquarium, one should always leave plenty room between them and neighboring corals. LPS
are aggressive and some have long sweeper tentacles that are used to keep other corals at a distance. The sweepers can be
used for both offense and defense
